Disjointed Reality 2020-Current
My Disjointed Series evoke memories of parts of my life and I am in the process of trying to find a sense of balance between my past and present, what I have done, what I have not done and making all these moments fit somehow with the shapes and movements and neutrality of the colors. I consider this to be a very honest exploratory work that I am doing about who I once was prior to my accident. Since past pieces hold a memory of where I was when I created it and by using a cut up section of the past painting I paste it, collage it onto a new painting with the purpose of trying to find some peaceful cohesion in the present from my disjointed past that occurred since my accident that caused my Brain Injury Disability. This can create many complicated layers that have taken years to come together in this manner, in this cohesive manner. But it comes out a beautiful, often chaotic looking mess, one that I love and that draws people in as if it speaks to a part of them as well!
This is an original collage painting created by me, Kris Haas. It is made with ink, oil, gouache, tempera paint along with polyurethane on watercolor paper or canvas. Some of the collage papers vary in thickness from 80lb - 140lb and the watercolor paper can vary from 140lb - 300lb. So these can actually be a little heavy.
